From pop-up stand to forever friend: Monika’s Triple A adoption story

When Monika Dobrowolska first crossed paths with a local animal shelter, she hadn’t planned on adopting a dog, in fact, she hadn’t planned on owning one at all.
“I trust that the time is always right,” she says.“I don’t really believe in the whole concept of the right time. So this just happened. You can call it a coincidence, maybe... but I believe that that was the moment for me to get a dog.”
Dobrowolska, a property advisor at Webster & Co, had always known about Triple A, one of Marbella’s most significant animal shelters, but it wasn’t until she noticed a pop-up stand near her office that she felt drawn to learn more. That casual moment sparked an emotional connection that would change her life.
Triple A is a nonprofit organisation that has served the Costa del Sol region for more than three decades, rehoming hundreds of animals each year. The shelter is known for its transparent adoption process and dedication to the well-being of every animal.
“First of all, I found them to be very professional and responsible, how they treat the dogs, how they take care of all the paperwork when you do the adoption. It was very impressive,” Dobrowolska explains.
From the moment she met her future dog, a pup who had just arrived at the shelter, the bond was instant. “He sat right in my lap. He started licking my face, and then suddenly he stopped and looked me straight in the eyes, like, ‘What are you going to do?’ And I just couldn’t do anything else. I said, ‘I’ll take you.’”
What followed was a thorough but supportive adoption experience. “They do all the documents, the passport, the vaccines, everything the dog needs… They even gave me a little bed for him.”
Now, she’s urging others to consider adoption. “If you decide to adopt a dog, Triple A is the best place to do it.”
For Dobrowolska, the reward has been immeasurable. “It’s like… an upgrade to your life. That kind of gratefulness, that kind of love… I’ve never experienced it anywhere else.”
If you’ve ever considered adopting, now might be your moment too. Triple A is always looking for loving homes for the many animals in their care and just like Monika, you might find that they choose you.
